About Me
I'm Liam. I take old games apart to see how they work: reading decompiled code, tracing scripts and chasing down why a bug that shipped years ago still behaves the way it does.
I originally started in the PS3 modding scene, moving to xbox 360, and eventually to PC. My passion is understanding how games work, and I write about what I find in a way that anyone can follow along.
What I write about
- Root causes. How a bug actually happens, step by step, down to the function and the byte.
- Engine internals. Script VMs, data formats, and how console-era engines handled things modern ones take for granted.
- Reproductions. Each post says how I checked it and what I couldn't confirm.
How I work
I work from the game's own code and data, and I test claims before I write them down. Where I'm reasoning from the code and haven't tested on the original game, the post says so. If you find something I got wrong, tell me and I'll correct the post.
Get in touch
I'm happy to hear corrections, questions about a write-up, and ideas for what to take apart next.
